Millikin University
Theo-Socratic Club

The Theo-Socratic Society is a long established institution at Millikin.  In 1981, Dr. Yonan of the Religion Department and Dr. Jacobs decide to merge the then separate Theology Club and Socratic Club. The Philosophy Department continues to sponsor the Theo-Socratic Society, a group of students, faculty, and community members who come together to discuss philosophical questions.  We have initiated environment conferences here on campus, protested the reduction in funding of the arts, attended lectures at Washington University, Illinois Wesleyan, and  University of Illinois, discussed books and articles on campus on everything from free-will and determinism to creationism, and shown films such as Waking Life and Capturing the Freidmans.

We even have our own theme songClick here for a text version!
